Newbie with a question. When you guys shoot portraits, how many good images do you expect to have? Lets say I fire off 200 shots of some kid posing in the park, ect...How many of those do you expect to have them pick from? 25? 50? More/less? Does this question make sense?

it depends on a lot of things, i guess. the quality of the lens, the speed of the subject, how experienced you are with your gear, etc. etc. there's no way to define the percentage of shots you get are going to be keepers.

depends on your own personal criteria i guess, for me good = nailing exposure, sharpness and composition i would say probably 60% are keepers in that sense but of that 60 probably 2-3 are WOW for me, sometimes less sometimes more, i think with the digital age photographers have become very lazy knowing they can check the shot instantly so dont take the time to make sure they NAIL the shot with the first shot, i didnt shoot film but i remember my mum and sometimes it would rake her 5-10min just to make sure everything was right in the shot then take it so her keepers where extremely high for the simple fact film shooting could become expensive if you just shoot willy nilly.
