Which Canon P/S is the best bang for the Buck beginners...

I am looking at buying my 2 children( 8 & 10 ) there own p/s cameras. but do not want spend a lot.

I'd suggest an A-series numbered 570 or higher. Those have more controls available, so they won't outgrow them quite as fast. Anything in the SD series or A560 or below has no direct control of shutter speed or aperture, and at least one of them will want to control those settings sooner than you think.

Try looking for some used cameras if you don't mind buying off of ebay. At 8 and 10, I don't think they'll care too much about settings and some of the 2 and 4 megapixel cameras might be easier on the wallet. My 5 year old uses our old A40 and he has a blast with it
