If so, do you think you got fair value for your gear? Do you get more value for trades vs. cash?
Just curious, before I put another item up on ebay.

I sold a Nikon N65 film camera and a Tamron 75-300 lens and I feel I got a fair price. The used prices for such entry level cameras and lenses are falling fast. KEH gave me more than the local camera dealer and I didn't get much interest when I tried to sell it at work and locally. I didn't bother with ebay.
Oh yes, I have sold items on this forum and on the FM forums and have had good success. Just research the price a little and the items sold quickly with little hassle.

I've sold a couple of items to KEH. I got a reasonable price for them.
But, I've checked prices with them on other items, and didn't like the quote I got. So I guess it depends on the item.
Keep in mind that they are brokers and they will buy low and sell higher. If they don't, they'll not make any money. And, of course, if they don't make money, they won't be around long.

Yes,. I'd be carefull selling to KEH.. if it's old film stuff.. maybe.. but anything digital you've purchased recently.. or lenses .. you will probably do a lot better selling on line.

Ebay will definitely get you the best prices

Very good info; thanks.
The nice thing is that I can request a quote from KEH (which I have just done) and if I don't like it I can go elsewhere.
I appreciate the info.

I have had one good experience with KEH and zero bad. I offered them a lens, They offered me a price dependent on it being in very good (I don't remember the exact terminology) condition. I said it was in a better condition than that. They said, "send it to us, if so we will give you more money." That is exactly what they did. I was happy.
I think for name brand stuff, eBay will get a generally get a better price than KEH, but KEH is much less hassle.

Well I got my quotes from KEH today.
"Fair" is the operative term. Not enough that I'd jump up and say "sold to you!" but also not so little that I'd be offended.
As dtrayers said, prices for entry-level used gear are falling fast.
Comparing their quotes for some of the stuff I want to sell to current bids I see on ebay, the KEH quotes ain't too shabby. The thing that ticks me off is that they're just not even close to what I paid a mere 9 months ago!
