These birds were a dream to shoot, very approachable, showing no fear of people (which is of course a bad thing really). They were in what is really the parking lot of a nursery which backs up to a wetland. That, coupled with the irrigation leaves the area with constant standing water. These birds were actually feeding on top of blacktop with marsh vegetation and standing water. Blacktop serves well at giving perfect reflections!

I love shooting these guys...they are so approachable - actually if you stay put near them THEY approach YOU! I like the rusty markings on the juvies..nice ones!
