Decided to do a bit of BIF photography today....so I borrowed the old man's 400 f5.6L and I must say it is so fast and sharp! Makes my 100-400L feel a little sluggish :p

i think you need to borrow it a bit more if you can get shots like this one .

Thanks all for the kind comments. Yes, this beaut lens is definitely on the wishlist for xmas I reckon :D
In the meantime I can "borrow" it when he's not using it hehe...

Did you give up using the 2X TC on the 100-400? How did that go?

Did you give up using the 2X TC on the 100-400? How did that go?
I was going to but I've decided to keep it for wildlife portrait shots. It works well in good light but for BIF it's very difficult to get a sharp shot.

The 400 5.6 is a great ticket for BIF for sure.
