resizing pics

What sizes are you using to upload your pics, Im resizing mine to 15x10cm sometimes it works sometimes its too big and very random, for instance:

I resized a pic to 10x15 file size 804k which it lets me upload and it says is 46.8k

I do a 10x15 100% crop of the original and the file size is 113k, try to upload that and it says file is too big???

Any ideas what Im doing wrong?

Resize to 800 pixels maximum along the longest edge and if using photoshop use the "save for web" function to get it to just under 100kb but no more. anything bigger than this will not upload.

What he said. If you're using Photoshop, then Save for Web allows you to specify the maximum file size.

Download Microsoft's Image Resizing Power Toy, it doesn't get any easier. Open Windows Explorer, right click on the picture you want to resize, click resize, select medium, click OK. All done, makes a smaller copy of the pic. Great for forums and emailing.

Provided you are using Windows XP or older versions of Windows. For Vista you need PixResizer (http://bluefive.pair.com/pixresizer.htm) or something similar.

I use Canon's Zoom Browser EX...

Select Export;
Export Still Images;
Select Images; Click on image or select all...
Specify Export Settings; 800 for longest side
Finish.
