I was in Capitola yesterday taking pictures of a sand sculpture competition, when I had the opportunity to try my luck on some beach volleyball. Clearly this is purely an experiment on my part. I didnt have much time to experiment since an impatient phone call from my wife called me back to look at sand castles.
The following is what I think was the best shot I got, but your C and C always teaches me how to improve, so please have at it.

It would have been better from the other side, with the water and sky for the back ground. As it is now just to much to take your eyes away from the game. Lighting may not have been the best from the other side, but picture wise it would look a lot better.

This was shot with the 20mm. As for the 70-300 I like it alot, and use it a great deal. Great image quality and versatility. I never noticed the issue with time to focus, particularly when you are not transitioning from very close to very far. But then again, I never thought of the time to focus as a comparison.
