View Full Version : Folded business cards - supplier?

Does anyone know a place that will print business cards that are folded in the middle? ie instead of printed front and back they're twice as wide and folded in the middle so they open like a little book. I need somewhere that will ship to New Zealand! Places in Australia or NZ would be ideal, but NZ's pretty expensive for this.

Sounds similar to the name cards at the reception table of the wedding. Perhaps a printer that makes those would oblige your need.

Pretty much any print shop should be able to do this. Ask whoever you normally use (or if you don't have anyone, look for print shops in your area and start calling).

My print shop can do it, but for 500 cards they quoted about US$300.

Hmm ya that's probably about right. If they're done like the way we do them they're printed two sided digitally (so there they're already twice as expensive as normal two sided digital business cards), then each sheet is scored by hand (sheets are usually 10 cards, or in this case, five), then the sheets are cut and delivered unfolded (you would fold them).
You could also do it yourself if you were to do your own design, just design the cards in a sheet ready to print and then get them printed. You can buy scorers for about $90 (this is CND I'm talking in) and score them yourself, then get them cut. That's how I would do it anyway, but then I work at my print shop :P

Sounds like way too much trouble Stefanie, but thanks! I'm so busy it's worth my time to pay someone else to do it. I'll just google around and ask for quotes.

Hey that's not a bad price! I paid US$400 for 100 cards!!! But they weren't the folding type.

Really? I paid US$100 for 1000 cards last time, color on one side blank the other, on nice card.

mine are made of steel... hence the ridiculous price. but the cool factor seems to play a big role with the expensive bride. sigh...
what does yours look like now, can you post it up?

Do you mean 500 folded cards for US$300 is about right? Seems a little expensive to me.

Well, it's on the high side of about right.
It depends on the stock, whether it's process colour both sides, how it's folded... etc
We could probably do 1000 cards for you for $300AU. The difference in 500 to 1000 in offset printed cards is tiny.

I've found a couple of places locally that will do it for NZ$200-$300 for 1000, all digital print. I've not been hugely impressed with digital printing to be honest. How's the quality of your offset Dan?

digital won't be able to handle the same weight of card as you get through a press..
what you have to remember Tim, is you're effectivley doubling the size of the card and the amount of print per card, and putting a folding process into the job
my cards cost me extra because i don't have normal stock card..

Don't go digital - off set looks heaps better. Image wins over savings with your cards.
FWIW - I got a double sided three fold card (three times as high as a business card, same width and scored in two places - you have to fold though), laminated on both sides for a ridiculous price at a print wholesaler. It was a big run though. 11,000 for about $1,100AU.
I could probably get you a price on a smaller print run if you want?
Card looks great and everyone comments on it. They could do the style you are after as well.
I am not associated with the company at all.

Check with Ray Prevost on DWF. I remember him posting a link to a company with cards like you've described. If I come across the link in my bookmarks, I'll forward it to you.

Tim,
In the US Miller's press quotes about $278 for 1000 folded cards printed both sides. Variety of paper types to choose from. You might be able to view them on the Millers web site. They are very high quality as I am sitting here looking at a sample.

Does Millers ship to New Zealand? Aussie would be better as shipping would be cheaper... maybe i'll just call Express Cards.
