does anyone know how to get pictures onto canvas?
what printer do you need?
i know you can easily pay for the service...but i would like to know how they actually do it - what equipment they use and process they take.
any help - greatly appreciated.
thanks.

Haven't a clue, but I am looking forward to hearing the answer, as I've been wondering the same thing.

Hi Muscleflex;
Sorry - can't tell you what printers the professionals use...
I've seen the one's they use in the Shopping Malls for "instant" canvases, and they are huge; and no doubt expensive!
They use rolls of "canvas" that feed in just like a normal roll of paper-feed on an old fax m/c... and then it gets guillotined when done...
I would hate to think what the ink cartridges are like!
Anyhow, I too would be interested in the answer...
If you don't get anywhere, as a suggestion, why don't you e-mail PhotoBox support, and ask what they use; they will probably tell you; it can't be a trade-secret!
If they give you any resistance, just tell 'em you want to soft-proof first, and need the printer name and it's colour profile!
Good luck;
Lee

I print on canvas all the time with a HP designjet 130 , and I have done canvas with a canon 9000s with no problems on either printer ,,, from what I can gather if the canvas feeds in it will print no problems at all on any inkjet , thats what these canvas materials are designed for , inkjet printers .

Thats because its a fabric and very Mat , when you spray them with Mat Lacquer they have a soft deep sheen look to them , I then wet mount them on formcore , canvas has its own quality to it .

Contact John or Andrew at Caerphilly Colour Labs. They print on genuine canvas and seal with varnish. They will also stretch it on a frame it for you. They just done a 16x20 for me but can do much larger.
