I just bought the A75. After using it for a few days, it looked like the image area in the LCD was tilted up( like a picture that is hanging crooked). I brought it back to CompUsa and swapped it for another one. The image area on the new camera is straight with the black margin around it but the image area is off to the right somewhat so that the black margin is greater on the left side. Is it possible for there to be some sort of shift in the LCD? This is driving me crazy because I really researched cameras and liked this one. When I looked at this model in the store I didn't see this. The pictures I took and put on my computer look o.k. Do you think this is something I should just live with? If I bring this one back for a more "perfect" one, it might be just the same and I really would look like a "nut case"! This is my first digital camera so I'm not familiar with LCDs,etc.. Any suggestions? Thanks ! :?:

I just read in another forum that some of the A75s had quality control problems in just this area. What I read was the ones made in Japan were the ones wth the most problems. Later cameras, made in China are better. If it were me I'd live with it. Range finder images are never perfect even on film cameras.

To Don Schaeffer: Where did you read about the LCD problems with A75?
I'm thinking of returning the camera and getting a refund, and then later look for it on sale. Maybe another shipment will be better.

DON, I CHECKED MY CAMERA. IT WAS MADE IN MALAYSIA.

Don, the image area is slightly more to the right. Can I assume the black margin around the image area is supposed to be there? If so, you are losing some of the viewing area. I liked the A75 because of the larger LCD but I thought it would be full screen viewing. Maybe I'm too picky.

What percentage of the viewing area do you think is missing?

I don't know. I thought the image would fill the whole screen.

On Digi Cam Review, Phil responded to my question as follows:
On mine, I've got about a 1 mm black border on the left and right. about half that on top and bottom. Same at all focal lengths.
Could it be the auto-rotate? If you take a vertical shot, when you view it in "Playback" mode, the camera auto-rotates it so you don't have to turn the camera to look at it. But displaying a vertical shot in the horizontal format LCD will leave black bands to the left and right. Perhaps, that's the problem.
Hope this helps,
Phil

Don, I read the post. The area that he says is 1mm on each side is what I am talking about. On my screen, I have about double the width of the black margin on one side and about half that on the other side. Am I just being too obsessive-compulsive? I'm going back to CompUsa to exchange it(last day!). It's probably perfectly normal, unlike its owner! Thanks for the input.
