I'm setting up MULTIPLE Databases for EE for specific purposes.
(e.g., Friends, Family, Test, Public, etc.)

In the Editor - Miscellaneous Settings under GLOBAL, there is a field for entering the

" HTTP address (URL) to gallery, with trailing slash. "

This does not work very well in a multiple database situation!!
Ideally it would be on a 'per Exhibition' basis.

(The same comment is true for the

Webmaster Email (for sql error page): )

If You use different databases I see no problem?

You can organise the galleries in folders like this:

http://www.domain.com/family/
http://www.domain.com/friends/
http://www.domain.com/test/

etc.

and it would work just fine.

ps yes this method requires a complete EE to be installed in each folder with the complete folder structure etc.

I was thinking more along the lines of

http://family.domain.com/
http://friends.domain.com/
http://test.domain.com/

In which case, I suspect EE might have some internal difficulties pointing to the right URL.

No problem. That's how I have it set up. With different database names in the connect.php & preferences.php files.

I dont see a problem with that way either as long as the databases are seperate.

I haven't done it yet but I do plan to create a second EE using that domain naming method. But it will be seperate virtual sites.

Not quite there yet, BUT ...

To run multiple photo exhibits and databases, my thoughts are to use a common 'image databank folder'(IDB). In that way each copy of EE can draw its particular exhibit from the databank; yet workflow in exhibit creation is identical. Within the IDB, I have set up folders for each size path AND for Thumbs & Microthumbs. (I create all these different sizes with PhotoThumb, copy EXIF/IPTC reduced size versions to the UPLOAD EE Folder, and do the 'Manual Upload-Special Step 5' Function.)

This all works great, but here's the 'But' ...

EE does not like having the Thumbs & Microthumbs anywhere else except under the EE copy root. So I have to move the 'minipics' to a special folder under the EE copy root. (This also adds duplicate copies to the server.)

When I set EE up this way, the online exhibit works & appears fine. But the 'Path Analyzer' complains with various errors along the 'Not Found' line when run. All other diagnostic type functions - like the Photo Editor-Check Validity& Exhibition Editor Thumbs/Microthumbs displays work fine.

A) I think there may be a problem with the Path Analyzer.

B) It would be R-E-A-L-L-Y nice if one could put ALL the different size AND Micro/Thumbs data in ONE folder - outside of EE!
