Hi,

I'm in Australia and have been looking into getting an A80, but have just been told by my local camera store that this model has been discontinued, and as yet there has been no replacement mentioned. They have sold all their stock of this camera so it's going to be dificult to get my hands on one. Just wondering if anyone has heard about this and if it's just the case in Australia, because i might look into buying one over then net from o/seas, if it's not too expensive. Otherwise i'm going to have to get back into doing my research to see which model i want instead... This is a real bummer IMO as the A80 was the perfect camera for me, maybe i'll just have to save up some more $$$ and get the G5...

Just a few months ago I was told the A70 had been discontinued; they were selling the A80 instead. However I did see places still had A70's in stock. I also see A75s now which appears to take the same lens adaptor as the A70. I love both my A70 and my S1 IS. The A70 will shoot about 500 pix on just one set of AA alkalines; something I was told was impossible. I presume the A80 and A75 performs comparably.

A70: great camera! I've taken over 5000 pix with it since buying it September 2003.
