Hello Everyone,

I am trying to find a good price on a G2. I have done around 50 hours of research on cameras and had narrowed my choice down to the Olympus C-4040 and the Canon G2. After checking out some images, I finally decided on the G2.

Now the only problem is finding one that I can afford. Anyone have any suggestions?

Thanks,
Larry

www.dell.com (the home store) has a sale that ends today: 10% off and free overnight shipping and no tax...total price is $719.10

otherwise, i have done business with www.pictureline.com and www.canogacamera.com and highly recommend them both as reputable, no-hassle dealers with excellent support and communication.

I paid a total of $549.00 for my G2.
This is how I did it. I had an American Express Blue card that has this feature where if you find an item for less within 60 days after purchasing it then Amex will reimburse you the difference up to $250. So what I did was buy it at Photoalley.com who is affiliated with MSN (so you know you won't get jerked around). I got my camera with everything as advertised. It cost me $799, but I didn't care because Photoalley sent me what I paid for versus some of those bogus New York dealers who offer great prices, but mess around with the contents of the box or sell you a "grey market" Canon. Next you buy a copy of Shutterbug photography magazine for like around $3.99. You look for the ads for the G2 from those sleazy New York stores and make a copy and fax it off to Amex. Within two weeks you get a check for $250.00. Now Amex Blue has discontinued the feature so you need to get the Amex standard green card to get the feature. Therefore my total price was 799 less 250 or $549. There is NO way you can get a G2 for this price from a reputable seller. The only way I can think of to get a deal close to this $549 price is to check eBay. There are a lot of sellers. Research the eBay buyer's feedback in the seller's feedback profile to sort out the bad dealers from the good ones. It's really not so difficult to do. Good luck and I hope you get yourself a great deal. (By the way, with the money I saved, the $250.00, I bought my 1GB IBM Microdrive for $277.00 from googlegear.com. You won't find a cheaper price anywhere I am almost 100% sure.

I have a new G2 which is being sent in for Canon Service due to the " stuck " camera problem. Original box, manuals, etc. Five weeks old, very little use. I have the adapter tube and Canon WA lens also plus 58mm UV
and polarizer filters.
Perfect condition except the firmware repair which you may have to deal with even if you get a new one at a retail dealer. Contact me off list if interested.
