As a continuation of the thoughts surrounding the RAW sizes from the dRebel, I was wondering what size of file the Canon 1Ds makes in RAW.
I assume that at 11 MP it would make a 33 meg 8 bit file .psd, and a 66 meg 16 bit .psd file. The RAW should be smaller. Could someone with a 1Ds (and it would be interesting to hear the sizes from a Mark II as well) please comment.

MkII range from a small RAW of about 8 MB up to over 10MB depending on subject and ISO...
My understanding is that the 1Ds files are not much larger.. ranging from 9 to 12MB
At 16 bit you can easily end up witha 44MB file

I have only had mine a few days so i am still getting accustomed to all of its features. Both of you are correct, so far as i have seen. In terms of the raw .tf file that is generated it varies from 7.9 to 11.1 mb in the roughly 30 or so pics that i have taken thus far.
When opening a raw/.tif file in CS, depending on what depth you choose, I have seen file sizes of 31mb (avg at 8bit) to 66mb (16 bit).
Hope this helps somewhat.

8 bit tiff file from mk2 is about 24mb, 16 bit is just over 50mb (average) raw files range from 8mb to 13mb depending on scene
