Hello!
I posted this in people too, but I seem to get a lot of looks and few helpful tips. I know that probably means they're not very good, but I'd still like some tips!! I want to improve!!

Here I was trying to figure out how to achieve that nice DOF you get with SLRs with my S5...put it on the macro setting and used a bit of zoom. Please let me know what you think of my results!

Any tips for improvement are much appreciated. I know my background isn't ideal with the light and dark . Also, my last 2 pics are showing up a bit dark and grainy here...grr...they weren't like that before I uploaded them to the internet:(

Also, are there other ways to control DOF with a P&S...I could probably shoot in Av Mode, right? Larger aperature=shallower DOF? Forgive me...I'm a rookie!

Thanks in advance!!:D

1. Yup, chopped off his head...gotta hate it when that happens!

Happy 7th month kiddo;)

I find the backdrop too much..I would love to see him outside! I am so rookie .but if not outside, then infront of a neutral backdrop? If you had these things, then the tight crops wouldn't be so needed?

Thanks! Outside is a great idea...next time!! Today he was just playing nicely in the living room so I decided to have a go at it.

Veranda-I've got to tell this joke and please do not take it to be a slur on your image and wonderful child.

First picture of first child and I was proud, until I showed it to my brother. Brother said "hey, did you get a pet monkey?" I have chuckled over it over the years but he has never showed me a picture of any of his children (coward).

OK...little bit confused...who the heck is veranda? me? And, as your constructive criticism are you trying to tell me that my subject looks like a monkey? Wow, no one has ever given me a more helpful photography tip!

I know that my photos aren't near the calibre of most people posting here, but I was hoping to get some helpful tips to IMPROVE...I guess I'm expecting too much! Or is your helpful tip to find a new subject to photograph??
