OK, these are KIND OF TTD like shots. They are a subset of a glamour photo shoot I did with this model but I saw she had this white dress and thought it'd be fun to jump in the pool with it.

I don't get it... does Trash the Dress = "wet dress"? Better yet, does "wet dress" = Trash the Dress? I wanted to ask that for the last person that posted "Trash the Dress" shots.

Trash the dress can be beautiful, but you must be creative. I have always wanted to put a bride under a waterfall with a dress that has a super long train.

Cuz no one liked them.

Throw'em back up! Just because someone doesn't agree with you calling it a TTD session, doesn't take away from what you can learn by getting solid C&C from the great photographers in this forum. Shoot, call it Drench the Dress then no one can b*tch.

Cuz no one liked them? We learn from pics that "nobody likes." We learn as much from the bad pics as we do from the good ones. And you can't say "nobody likes", you can only say the people who posted didn't like them. There could be lots of people who did like them, but didn't post. It makes me nuts when people remove pics for that reason.

Hey, some of us didn't even get to see them!
And who cares if anyone else "likes" them - unless you were only looking for kudos, of course - many people post images to hear what about an image works or doesn't...and that's valuable not only to you, the original shooter, but to everyone in the community.
So be an active member and put 'em back up! You might want to consider working on a slightly tougher skin and learning how to take varying opinions (accept, reject, file away for later, learn from, think about, consider, push yourself...), too...

I Agree that you should keep your shots up here. It is a learning experience for all of us. THe key on this forum is that you need to be a little thick skinned with some of the comments. Some can be pretty critical. If you have a confidence issue then it can become a problem. But it is a learning oppotunity to take advantage of.
The beauty of photography is we all have our styles. If your in this to make a dime then you need to develop a style that is yours and is successful in selling to your clients. Doesnt mean we will all like it.
For the rest of us...
Just as we all have our own ideas on a photo, we all have our thoughts on a trash the dress. Doesnt always mean we have to completly destroy the dress. Lets give some of the posters on here a little leeway when they post a set of photos in what they deem as a TTD. It is their vision and we should at a minimum respect that and offer a measure of courtesy to them since they took the time to post some photos.

Yeah, dont take them off after you get two negative comments. Give us a chance to see them.. also the negative comments often help us learn make it better.
I cant even count the number of bad comments on my pics... sometimes it hurts a bit but hey, I will keep it in mind for next time

I agree. However, it appears to me that some people just equate "trash the dress" with sticking someone in a wedding gown in a pool. Sure, that's trashing the dress (maybe), but not at all creative.
I wasn't trying to bash the original poster, as I said I liked his pictures.
How about a bride in a dress riding on the back of a firetruck with big ol' boots on and a fire helmet? If anyone wants to volunteer to model for that, I'd love to shoot it. Thanks.

I think your new description of them bit more glamour instead of anything wedding related is better...I'm sure they're good examples of this style with the wet, white outfit and pretty chickie ;)

This would be great! I'm not model material, but I'd love to do it :) - both as a photographer AND as a recent bride!

I like your pics..and yep..get a thick THICK skin or a ducks back...just let the comments roll off like water...on a ducks back!
I posted mine and wow...OUCH..but you learn too, if you can get beyond the way things are typed and the real direction of what people are saying...
The person was just questioning if this really was a "trash" the dress..and really it's NOT, because the dress can be cleaned as if it were new.
It's more of an artistic expression...a more tasteful, destroy the dress, drown the dress etc. whatever you want to call it, people know what you mean. TTD is the original creator of this "style" and what you have seen here and will continue to see here are artistic versions of TTD.
Glad you put them back up...

I like them, although i don't think the overall feel is "bridal-y" except maybe as bridal boudoir. Which actually makes me think this would be a great idea for bridal boudoir: trash/drench the virginal white dress. i just think they're more sexy than a bridal, even a TTD, but I guess you knew that. ;)

I do like the photos, but, I don't know why they belong in the Wedding Forum.

Nice Shots. I really like #3. Thanks for posting them again. I would agree with some on here that perhaps this is more of a Glam shot but not everyone can post in that area so.... Pretty model and I think you did a nice job of posing her. Keep it up.
