hello,

i work for a nonprofit (www.agros.org) and I recently did a shoot w/ a photographer down in central america. on return, we discovered that all of the canon files shot on the last day are corrupted. we do not know why. i have these files on my computer now and I'm desperately needing to un-corrupt them.

do any of you have any suggestions of any individuals, companies, or software that can take a look at one of these files and see if it is possible to uncorrupt, or if in fact they are all lost? I know there is software like photorestore... but they all seem to be geared towards recovering files on media. i've already got these files on my harddrive.

thoughts? help!

I've never heard of any software to do what you want, since corruption is so random it'd be hard to automatically repair.

Do you still have the cards? Maybe try pulling the files off again with RecuePro or one of the other recovery programs?

Since you can copy the files it is unlikely that the file structure is corrupted.

Seems more like the image data has been incorrectly written to the card by the camera so there are no errors for a file repair utility to correct.

I'd try down loading again. This happened to me once (cheap card/reader) but as they were still viewable in camera, I just deleted them off the pc and put them in a new folder. Just as a matter of intereest, how did you transfer them? Card reader or direct from camera?
