I just got my 10D, no card yet, wanted to fire off a few shots indoors, full auto, with flash. When the review photo comes up on the LCD, it's blown out snow white, like I shot a pic of a sheet of white posterboard. Ideas please??????? Would one of you please do this same test, from about 6 feet away and post your results. Thanks!

Just tried the same test with my 10D. Full auto with flash and no CF Card.
The picture on the review screen was fine.
Sorry no suggestions.

well, i guess we'll need more info on your shots, indoor with what lighting, which lens used, what are the settings on the actual shot, aperture, shutter speed, iso, WB etc.
if you can post the shot, please do so with file info.
personally i've never used full auto mode, manual is always my choice. you can do the same, try tweak the settings and see if results are any better.

Full auto settings are 1/60 at F4. Flash on normal. subject 5 feet away, totally blasted out white on the 2 second preview. (Can barely make out what is in the photo) Please help. Thanks.

try a different subject, turn the flash off. put in a CF card, and post pictures here.

My 10D started doing that once. After sensor cleaning I think... I thought I had damaged it in the cleaning process somehow.
I switched it off, removed the battery, CF card and external flash. Left it for five minutes and then reassembled it. It's been OK ever since.

Take it off full auto and try it outdoors without flash
Set it to P mode and see what happens
When you take ot off full auto... please promise never to put it back there... :)

I promise, but I've tried P mode, still blasts the picture badly overexposed. Outside shots are gorgeous....but indoor with flash, blasted out white, I tried the "remove the battery" thing, still blasts too bright. Thanks.

sounds like the flash fires at full power. did you check flash exposure compensation?

It's probably set to ISO 400 or higher in P mode. The flash can't power down enough most likely.
