Well, hello everyone.

My name is NASCARManiac (Covy) and I joined the forums in the last couple days. I am a huge aficionado of forums, being part of the (almost) famous TBK Fameflame Motorsports Forum. Anyways, I am here to say hello and tell you all a little bit about myself.

I was born and raised in Alberta Canada. Had little to no interest in photography until I was about 16, but it didnt come in the form of straight up liking photography. I discovered auto-racing right around that time, specifically stock car racing. I dont have rich parents, and with all the talent out there, it is almost next to impossible to start racing in the 'Big Leagues.'

So, I still obsessed about motorsports, and looked for a way to be able to work hand in hand with drivers, and get paid to follow the different tours. So I applied for Journalism for when I graduated high school, and was accepted.

I am now in my second and final year of college, and was accepted into an elite group of second year's who applied for the 'Photojournalism Major' (PJM) only 16 out of about 120 applicants get in, and I did. So that is where I am now, attending final year, PJM.

I hooked up with Motorsport.com this summer to shoot the Edmonton GP. Greatest experiance of my life. Being trained in Journalism, I was able to utilize the media center, got to talk to a whole lot of professionals. Had the ole laptop, so I was in and out of the media center editing and uploading images from the weekend. I had a realization that that is what I want to do for the rest of my life.

The goal of doing that is a few years out, but I am working on doing anything to get to an agency for my Practicum later in the year.

This forum has been mentioned to me a few times, and I thought what the heck. I do have a quam though. I cant post in the Glamour + Nude section. There was that thread about the gentleman working on a book, and it interested me a lot, and had a suggestion for him, (to try and get my free copy). So if anyone can tell me the qucik way of being able to post there, or just tell me if a mod can remove the block.

My equiptment list is below, but its so much bigger, with tripods, monopods, lighting kits, and the wide variety of lenses that I steal (borrow) from school. Iv currently got their 400mm 4 IS out for an international horse jumoing competition I am shooting today.

Well, thats a little bit of my history in photogaphy, my interests, and whatnot. If anyone has any questions they would like to ask me, please feel free. My favortie photographer is Vincent Laforet btw. I got to see his keynote speech earlier in the week at the Canon Expo. He is a very inspiring photog.

Thanks for reading.

Welcome to POTN. You can always send the poster from G&N a private message. To get the block on G&N lifted requires either meeting the set forum requirements or permission from one of the admins. PM one of the moderators and they can tell you how to proceed. Enjoy.

Welcome to another Canadian on the board!

PJM? Pretty nice.

I'm sitting here watching the Richmond race and thought I say howdy!

Having worked TV for a couple years with NASCAR, and done several years of other sports TV, I can understand the hook! Keep up the effort!

Enjoy the forum.

Hey There! I guess you could say im a nascar "maniac" too....been shooting it bout 3 years now and have finally got the proverbial "foot" in the door. I know exactly how you feel when it comes to knowing what you want to do forever! I'm sure we'll see each other at the track. I'll be at Dover and Charlotte so far, waiting on a few more...It would be fun to hook up if we can find time lol.....I'll be a guest of the xx team but will also be shooting some promo stuff for a smaller team at Dover.....
Im just recently posting again after a stint away to have my little girl....but shes all grown up now at 4 months old and Im suffering greatly from severe race withdrawl symptoms.....lol.
