Web sizes

Hi, I am new to the thread and, like most people, have been browsing for a while reading the vast array of knowledge. Now I have my first question which I know has been answered in several previous threads but I am a little confused (to say the least!) I have just carried out an assignment for a client and they wish to have the images on a CD so they can upload the chosen images to their web-site. I therefore intend to have two folders on the CD - one with full size images, the other with images optimized for the web. My question is how do I go about this - I have Photoshop CS3 and would like to change all 45 images at the same time, to the correct size for the web but can't seem to work out how to do this. I am a novice with Photoshop so I would ask any kind helpers to explain in 'idiot mode'!:oops:

im not sure if its changed in CS3 but in CS2 you use actions, for web i wont go more than 800 on the longest side, jpeg compression 8 and image process sRGB colour space, you can do all this and a save to a specific folder using the actions function, i am derrible at explaining it (have been asked a few times) so either do some googling which is how i learnt how to use it or wait for someone else to explain it, even going through CS3s help section should be fine its not complicated. The actions tab is next to the layers tab

open up adobe bridge, then go to where your photos are, highlight them all.. then at the top click tools>photoshop>image processor..

youll find all you need to know there.

As Cider says, one the best ways to do this is via an action.

Once you've saved the action, run it via File >> Automate >> Batch and select the action, Source (the folder you want to process) and Destination (where you want to save them).

Any probs, let me know.

N.B. You can also do the same process via File >> Scripts >> Image Processor

Yeah, I just find it easier for that type of stuff through bridge, because you can highlight the photos easier.

Besides, I export from Lightroom to print and web ready files. I don't need the EXTRA step in photoshop/bridge to slow me down.

My only gripe with that is you also generate a lot of garbage files. Making use of Actions can save you just gobs of time.

That's fair, but I never messed with actions regularly prior to CS3. If I'd been using them since 7.0 I imagine I'd be a lot more comfortable with everything at this point.
