At the very least, if you are using an Adobe product for post-processing, use the Adobe Gamma tool. Best solution is to use a hardware calibration device such as the Huey, Spyder, amongst many.

I wouldn't bother with Adobe's Gamma Tool. Just read information from here (http://www.normankoren.com/makingfineprints1A.html), and download and run this program (http://www.normankoren.com/makingfineprints1A.html#QuickGamma). It's free and works.

Hi,
Tks for the excellent info. I have read the info and looks simple. I have downloaded the program. I have not yet installed.
I need some more info. I am a senior citizen. Pl bear with me if I ask some silly questions.
I have a hp laptop - 17 inch widescreen, amd 64 bit processor, one year old. I connect crt viewsonic monitor to my laptop to do my photo editing with adobe PS 7. I have noticed the prints I get from Costco have more yellow tone and darker than what I see on my monitor. I wanted to calibrate the laptop screen and external monitor.
How do I go about calibrating my laptop as well as the external monitor?
Pl suggest the easiest way.
tks in advance
