Sorry about the large photo but this is how it will appear on the website (maybe???)...I did this as a promo (free) having hard time booking weddings and figured maybe I could convince them to book me .....they have a photog booked $550 there are about 20 of these guys running around here and I just can't bring myself to shoot $500 weddings ( my gripe).... anyway I just wanted some opinions CC good, bad, indifferent or whatever

I find my area to be the land of $500 dollar photographers. I suppose it doesn't help with Hallmark photography school just over the hill pumping out wee little pixel peepers just giving it all away ....lol....So if anyone has a garage they want to rent out preferably in a warm part of the country let me know I'm low maintenance and very low key ***I need to escape this place......lol......*** think I'm kidding, NOT!!!!

So they were hungover :p from the night before and picked 11:00 to shoot very bad timing but we made it through..........lol.......

If you would also take the time to comment on the slideshow that would be great...thanks in advance.....http://www.photodex.com/sharing/viewshow.html?fl=2871802&alb=132983

I guess you can't post a large collage or montage or what ever its called........it wont display the photo correctly, it shrunk it ....oh well...PITA:confused:

Unfortunately I don't have the plug-in for the slide show and these pictures are a little small. From what I can see they look pretty good, bigger versions would help.

I don't have the plug in either. But I love the large version. I like your natural colors. The eyes in picture 4 are great. Is that PP?

Also what lens did you use for your ring on the rock shot? The DOF is brilliantly shallow.

The eyes was in four was just level adjustments on the overall photo ( I didn't work the eyes directly ) ...and thanks for taking the time to comment

It was the 16-35 II L2.8 on a 5D shot at 35 and cropped down but I really need a macro for those type shots

I downloaded the plug-in and watched the slideshow. Great job on the photos! There were a few with a little too much blur added, but I thought that it helped accentuate the "dreamy" feel you were trying to present. You couldn't have picked a perfect song for the occasion either. Wonderful job on the slideshow! How'd your clients like it?

Thank you but I have to wonder by what you meant by blur the only so-called blur I used was a plugin that only touches up the skin and is masked off from the rest of the photo and it is slightly noticeable on the skin only....If you can take a moment and explain further I would appreciate it...

The clients liked it but I don't think I scored the wedding ...........oh well

There were a few photos in the slide show with one of the couples facing the camera and the other with their back turned. PSE4 has a gaussian blur plug in that can replicate DOF. One of the shots looked like it had a bit more PP, but then again, maybe the blown out sky was giving that effect.

Thank you for getting back to me all the background was DOF no gaussin used in any of the photos most were shot with 50 1.4 all shot wide open or very close to.....:) I mean the ones with a shallow DOF

the other two lenses were the 16-35 II L2.8 and the 70-200 2.8 ( there where a few exceptions like the ring shot mentioned above)

Ah, my next question, answered. I'm assuming it went well with the clients?

I like those photos - they look really nice - I think I'd like to just see them individually rather than in a collage though.

give me a break man.

It's his choice to break the law, just as its the couples choice to steal his photos.

How many people do you think are using illegal software titles on this site?
How many people go over the speed limit? How many people roll through stop signs?
I rest my case.

Found this in another thread.

There are two choices. The customer can either send to you their legally purchased CD with the selected song(s)that will be tranferred on to your DVD or, you yourself can purchase the music for them and have it included on the DVD. The purchased music is used legally and does not violate copyright laws as the DVD slideshow is intended for personal use, rather than public use. Not only that, but the use of a legally purchased CD or download is covered under a customers "Fair Use Rights" of ownership. Purchased music is licensed for personal use and therefore it is legal for you to include them in your DVD slideshow. If any copyrighted music is used in your DVD slideshow, the only stipulation that applies is that your customer cannot sell or publish any copies of the DVD that you make for them. The DVD slideshow that you make for the customer is meant for personal viewing only. This will be the ONLY intended use of your services (I assume?). So other than that, any use of your DVD slideshow other than the customers personal use ought to be prohibited. As the last poster said, your charge is for the photos and the time involved for the production (all of which is yours), NOT for the music, which is THEIRS to use at a personal level. Also, a good point to put into your contract: "Any use of your DVD Slideshow other than the consumers personal use is expressly prohibited. By having XYZ Photographers create for you your DVD Slideshow, you agree to use your DVD for personal use only and not for public display with the intent for re-selling or charging admission to its viewing. In these instances of violation, XYZ Photographers will not be held responsible for your actions".

Please come again. :)

Guilty on all counts. ;)

As for the photos, they're lovely. And I can sympathize with the OP about the $500 shooters. I market to larger cities within 100 miles, so I have a better chance of scoring the $1500 to $2,500 crowd. Having a la carte pricing is somewhat helpful, too.

Thank you Liza yes I try to market to the larger cities but still mainly work word of mouth. I am working on a ala carte pricing and should have it set soon

As far as questioning me on the copyright of a song please if anyone wishes to discuss this with me use PM and especially if you need to state your opinion/facts in a way to start a topic that is not in the interest of CC the photos or slide show ( don't high jack the thread ) and I'm surprise that there isn't 10 posts already on the subject .........Start a new thread tittled music copyright or whatnot . I simply wont discuss it here in this thread beyond this point and I would expect this of all posters

Thank you ....................me :D
