When I use the Canon software to change an image from RAW to a jpg, it changes the file name by adding "_RJ" Is there any way to stop the software from doing that??? It is REALLY a pain in the butt to manually rename them after converting the images to jpg!!! Any help or tips are greatly appreciated!

Thank you,
Matthew

Never seen this problem, but then again I never use Canon software for RAW conversions. A guess: perhaps the Canon software has renamed them correctly. If you are in Windows and just have folder settings so that extensions are not shown?

If you have Photoshop (I know this works in CS, not sure about previous versions), there is an automated "batch rename" function that can rename any picture in a given folder...either keeping the file in the same folder, or moving to a new folder). It works great.

Not really sure why the software is doing it...There is a box that says "Do not modify" refering to the filename and I made sure that it was checked. Oh well...I ended up just renaming the images with Irfanview. Thanks for the imput...if anyone still can tell me how to stop the Canon software from doing this, I'd be happy to save a step in my workflow!!!

Thanks again,
Matthew

File Viewer Utility does that. If you convert RAW to JPEG, it appends "_RJ". If you extract the imbedded JPEG, it appends "_JFR". I don't really see how this is useful though.

I recommend you download EOS Viewer Utility. It's basically an upgrade to FVU. EVU doesn't change change the filename.

You can use also a batch file rename software, 1-4a Rename (http://www.1-4a.com/rename/) for example. It's small, easy to use and free.
