OK so I made another attempt at getting a more focused image and think this one came out a little better. What do you guys think.

Canon PowerShot S1 IS
TV 0.4
AV 7.1
ISO 50

My assumtion was that by rasing the stop to 7.1 I would get a better depth of field and good saturation with the long exposure. I used a tripod this time which hopefully increased the crispness. I am generally satisfied, but disapointed b/c I feel the whites may have exposed to hot.

I am obviously very new to this obsession so all input on composition, technique, post-processing etc are greatly needed and appreciated.

Thanks Zerah

I don't think the whites are too hot, but the extra twig coming in from the top is distracting from an otherwise clean, effective composition.

Flower looks great to me and nice background except for the extra twig or stem.

This one is much better! Well done. However, I agree with the others that the twig is rather distracting.

Well I am even newer to PS than to photography so... I attempted to clone out the offending greenery. Tell me what you think

Nice image - however, I think I'd have liked to see a little more of the stamen - I find my head trying to see around the edge of the nearest petal.
