View Full Version : Anyone have a Bogen 3245 Manual?

I've never really liked my monopod (Bogen 3245) - it was uncomfortable and basically I just wasn't used to it. But I was tired of slightly blurry shots, so I packed it for shooting last weekend. When I pulled it out of the trunk I found that I could not extend it. Squeezing the handle basically did nothing. I had to squeeze the handle and very forcibly push or pull the upper section to get it to compress or expand.

I wasn't happy.

So tonight I took it apart. All the way apart. Many pieces.

To make a long story short, after it was completely apart I saw a tiny little hole in the handle. Inside the hole was a screw. The screw moved a wedge inside the handle. Funny, that looks like an adjustment screw...

So I re-assembled everything, and turned the screw. Yep, it is an adjustment screw. Turning the screw make the extension process easier or harder. So I adjusted it so that squeezing the handle lets the bottom section fall of it's own weight.

It's *very* nice now.

So, the question: Was this little piece of knowledge in the manual that I threw away? (I mean, really! A *manual* for a monopod! How ridiculous!)

:D

It almost makes me want to go buy one just to find out.
