are u a media photographer for mags?

i really wanna chat to a photog who does photography for publications in sydney / or australia. magazine, celebs pics anything ...... / getty images

need to understand some stuff / protocols with selling / dealing with editors ....

i am prepared to pay for a couple of consultations.

I am sure someone may help you out... but what you need to understand is essentially your asking someone to help you better compete with them. Photographers are a great crowd and many are very open to help the new pups along. But in the end, you need to realize and respect that your basically asking this person to help you compete against them. It kind of like deciding you want to be a contractor, so you go to another contractor and ask them how to best price and advertise so that you can beat them out for business..... don't be surprised if you don't get all the information you are looking for.

if that were the case then POTN would close down as everyone isgetting knowledge from the other.

besides, im only wanting meet aussies in sydney so
aussies are usally more helpful with their peers than others feel.

If your going to be shooting in the same local.... trying to sell to the same outlets.... your going to be competing. All I am saying is when they do help... show them you understand what they are doing for you. I get asked all the time to help out here with newbies... and I do to some extent. But at the end of the day, the agency is only going to call one person to cover an event, and I really want that to be me. It's kind of like being team mates on a sports team.. and you play the same position. You want to do what you can to make your team the best they can be, so you help the others on your team. But in the end, only so many can be starters, so your not going to tell all.... if that makes any sense.

i think we are on different wave lengths

the type of help i wasnted was to learn how to sell
directly to media outlets.

not about getting calls from agencies.

as - i have gone to several red carperts etc and have slowly been selling direct to magazines but wanted to learn more about the protocols etc.

so, nil competetion involved .

and also as per post, i did offer to formerlly pay for consultation

but thanks again

i think in the usa its just different and hard to compare
