View Full Version : Suggestion - Password Protected Path / Originals

In most circumstances, I do not wish to make originals available.

But in some situation I do. Typically, I would want to 'unlock' a photo or all photos path in an exhibit for a certain user/password after the exhibit has been published.

If EE had some sort of password password protection, along the lines of the existing 'public' / private scheme, on designated path sizes - like 'originals' - and perhaps for designated photos, then passwords could be given out only to authorized viewers.

The passworded path would not show otherwise.

The password might be optionally input on a per exhibit and/or per photo basis, perhaps in another 'password' input box beside the (optionally) existing password box as well as the exhibit and/or photo 'command line'.

An added 'frill' would be some sort of database audit trail of when and/or how many times the path was selected/viewed.

you can do some password stuff now but its outside EE... on apache, i use the .htaccess files in some exhibit directories to limit access... the password stuff is already built in to most web servers...

as for tracking things like how many times an exhibit is opened or some such, i just use my normal web server log analysis software... webalizer and aw-stats are two good ones...
