Was quite a short day for us yesterday compared to recent weddings as the couple only wanted coverage up to the sit down for the wedding breakfast, civil ceremony so we were allowed 3 shots during that and then we also had a ton of group shots to do plus table shots just before the sit down .... all in all I really felt like I struggled to get going and as a result I dont think its some of our best work but hopefully the couple will be happy with what they got.

Weve just actually changed our package now so that it includes coverage upto the first dance and hopefully that way we will appeal to couples who are more interested in having lots of coverage as thats definitely our preference.

Anyway heres a few JPG's that we pulled out as we were making their honeymoon album and ran through showit effects, then bordered for the blog. Polite C&C welcome.

1. Bride prior to getting ready

2. And from Jon the groom doing the same, this is one of my fave getting ready shots so far from the guys side.

3. Ring shot from Jonhttp://www.boundlessphotos.co.uk/clients/BP012-BLOG-07.jpg

4. Brides shoes and other bits

5. When we shot the ladies just before this we meant to get them to do a similair shot that we had done at our last wedding all stood in a line facing the same way really close but we forgot, trying to get the blokes to do the same proved quite tricky (men dont like getting that close up behind othe rmen) but we kinda changed it part way and got this as well and I think its cool.

6. Pleased I managed to grab this as they were coming out but I arent sure it works, will try again next chance I get though.

7. So lifting the bride up may be cheesy but its still a fun shot if the brides up for it, expecially when you then ask the groom to give her a kiss

8. When we do our walking away shot now we try and get quite a few different shots at the same time .. walk away holding hands, a look back, a kiss, face each other, walk towards us etc .. nice way to get quite a few shots at the same time and double so when one of us has the 17-55 and the other the 70-200. We neve rhave much time with em so this is our way of making best use of it.http://www.boundlessphotos.co.uk/clients/BP012-BLOG-25.jpg

#1 - Like the shot, just not sure of her expression though

#2 - really nice shot, I can see why you like it, his pose if perfect

#3 - Great shot, love the narrow DOF

#4 - Nice detail shot

#5 - Not sure, but just not digging it.

#6 - Like it!! might be a tad better if the B&G where a little more in focus?

#7 - Super Cheesy but it totally works for me!!especially like the old guy to the right, great expressions on everybody's faces makes this work for me! plus the superb B&W conversion.

#8 - Nice, but looks a tad bit early?

#1lighting feels a bit harsh.
# 2 great casual uncluttered shot - i like it.
#3 Great shot. Fanstastic DOF.... but I had a bit of a second look when I realised it was two guys . Where is the bride??
#7 Really like this one. Yes it's cheesy but a much better take on the lifting the bride. As Toogy said the looks on the guys faces makes it

Well Done

I really like these :)

In #7, you might want to do a little magic on the bride - for instance, the skin right above her dress, under her arm is all rolled up and I know if it were me, I'd rather not see that of myself... and this bride looks buffed so I'm sure she'll notice ;)

The guy on the right really adds to this one - great timing!

I really like 5! I think it looks great. I would have been surprised if Toggy had endorse anything other than the "Toggy Style". ;-)
Must admit it's nice to see something different. I still love the Toggy style too. :-)

Don't like 1 though. Not flattering. 2 is great. You used that light to your advantage.

What lens did you use for 3?

Cheers guys thanks for the C&C, most of thats very useful and I dont disgaree with most of it!

Toogy -
1. Agreed, makeup shots were a real nightmare for me this weekend, they had it done in a very small room with horrid back lighting and I just dont like flash for those shots ... was bouncing it off all sorts and it still wasnt happening, think I will try some off camera if I get in that situation again. Shot above was grabbed in the brides room as she touched up for a second before going downstairs.

6. Yup I wish it had been a tad more in focus, was a quick grab when the guy stepped out in front of me.

8. We have the kiss as well, but I sometimes like the moment just before it better because you have the anticiptaion of whats coming.

1. Agreed
2. Two blokes because it was done before the ceremony so its the groom and best man. Bride and Groom never see each other before the ceremony in the uk and we never ask them to remove the rings after the ceremony so we dont get chance to do a B&G shot of this.

Kja - Cheers for that spot, hadnt noticed it myself but I see what you mean and we will have a go at that. She was deffo a buff bride, she looked a bit too thin at times but it was obvious during the getting ready shots that she worked out and was just really lean.

Visual Bride - Jon shot number 3 was shot with the 17-55 wide open for the narrow DOF.
5 Was a bit of a happy accident, the shot we were setting up wasnt working very well with the blokes so we swapped around a bit and got the one above that were very pleased with.

Thanks again for the great C&C guys

I don't tend to post images here myself, so not sure I really have any right to comment. However, I like these a lot - and I don't mean that in a 'nice shot' way! ;)

I think they suit UK tastes very well - and I think that's something that gets a bit lost in this forum because there are relatively few UK photographers here.

If this was a bad day, I'd hate to see your work on a great day, 'cos I'd probably go shoot myself!

Specifically I really like no.2 - the lighting is great, and I love mirror shots at any time. I also like the lighting on no.1 and the way it models her face, however I'm not mad keen on her expression, and I think the shadow across her forearm drags your eye away from her face (I'd maybe crop it a bit and lighten the shadow of the brush a little?) ...however, knowing the tight spaces we often have to work with in the UK, I still think it's a great shot under difficult circumstances.

I also particularly like 5,6 and 7 ...6 primarily because this is a shot we always seem to be taking ourselves - it happens so fast, and it's sometimes tricky to judge when the image is going to be up on the guest's camera screen, nevermind keeping an eye on where the bride/groom are and how much out of focus they're going to be.

Cheers Rob, its nice to get C&C from another uk wedding photographer.

Cheers for the advice about 1, I will have a go at what you suggest.

6 was indeed a very hurried shot and although not perfect I was quite happy to grab it because it wasnt something ive been succesful with before.
