Two of a series of shots I got today from a neighborhood that is being razed in the name of progress.

I like em both, the stairs to nowhere are great particularly with the critter on top lol....the second shot is a good social commentary about obsession with 'lookin good' and the discarded childhood toy.

Thanks bikerider, I didn't notice the squirrel when I took the shot, but thought it interesting when I saw it.

great captures Kenny
something sad about the toy being left like it
:( somebody loved him once and maybe misses him
the magazines strewn around leave a mess behind (by whoever)
but add an interesting ( lol ) look to the scene
the critter is really small (sharp eyes to spot him by bikerider)
great you caught him in the shot
maybe he wants to be friends with the soft , still smiling, toy :D

Thanks Marie. I have more shots I'll post soon, but this was only a small part of the "rubble" in the area. One other shot here:

Wow, now that's a mess! What's happening here? Was it forceful eviction?

Yes basically, the residents of this mobile home park were told they had to move by then end of the month. The heavy equipment (seen in the background if the first one) is already dragging the homes into piles of rubble and hauling them to the dump as others try to continue living there.
It's the whole area which is across the street from a major new development.
Here's a couple more for now:

I'm sure in some manner of speaking it will be, but I'm always concerned about the people that have so little and are barely scraping by, doing the best they can and now have to find some other place to live. :(

maybe forcing them to move can be a good thing, get out of the old and a change may help...either way, living like this CANT be good.
Give them a chance to be succesful elsewhere, it isnt working for them here..
Whats the saying, "dont expect different results from doing the same things"?

True, change can be good, I don't know if that is the case here or not. What you see in the pics is the "after" with only a few residents remaining to move. I unfortunately do not have the "before" shots but I can guess this Mobile home park was not that different than the one I moved from a few years back. Some good, some bad as there are in my current neighborhood of single-family homes. :)

weird, was it eerie there?
kenyc

Yes, particularly because there were still people living there when I took these, some homes were occupied. I tried to express my sorrow to one lady but she only spoke Spanish apparently. The whole place is fenced off now and they are "developing"

Good job, Kenny. I actually have the exact same blanket as in your first shot and the same magazines as in the second... made it hit a little closer to home for me.
