I use Neat Image. There is a free version you can try. Another is Noise Ninja. I've found most work about the same.

I'd worry more about my posing techniques.....

I thought Joan Rivers was much older. I like the goofy pose, shows a well developed ego in the model.

Dedicated noise reduction software as Titus mentioned works well but is rarely necessary. There are thing in post-processing that make noise worse and things that get rid of it.

Give us the specifics of your workflow and the resolution you're trying to upload. Then we can probably offer more help.

Also, resizing the photo will tend to soften it. You might need to sharpen again after the resize.

Very hard to say on a posted image that small.

Be sure you're not oversharpening, regardless of noise.

(I mention that because you say it looks good in P-shop, then noise........)

You should only upload full-res files if they are for printing (to an online print vendor, for example).

But even the noisiest images should look clean when downsized to 640x480. Downsizing is the world's best noise killer. I'm not sure what sort of imperfections you're seeing. I don't see any noise in the image you posted.

Ah, now I think I see what you mean on facebook.

(Nice stuff, BTW)

I'm not seeing grain in the facebook pictures. JPEG compression maybe. Some resizing algorithms are better than others, and facebook's resizing could be the culprit.

Maybe ask that question in a separate thread, in the RAW, post processing & printing section. Be specific about the software and hardware you're using.

I'm fairly certain that it's Facebook's terrible resizing algorithm. Is the widest dimension of any of your given photos 604 pixels?

the hair in that picture is the darkest area, so it's the area where more noise will be visible. Don't think applying any noise reduction routine is a good idea as it will destroy the delicate hair texture. Shoot at ISO 100, try to do exposure to the right, buy a low noise camera and if nothing works, try to live with noise and see it as a beautiful element.
