Hi there! I'm new here... and have been using the search function for answers to my question, but I can't seem to find anything.

I'm shooting a wedding where the couple has a baby together. I can't seem to find any ideas for shots after the ceremony (posed and what not) that involve the baby as well. I'm obviously not doing only threesome shots, but the bride does want to include the baby in a fair amount.

I have several ideas in mind, but like to be prepared... even if all of those ideas go out the window on the day of! ;)

Any ideas or examples?

I have that situation coming up in October, so I'm just going to treat those shots like any other family portrait. The only difference will be the attire. ;)

Yeah... I was thinking the same.... just wondering if there were any interesting examples of wedding shots this way... or any ideas on how to get more productive search with the words, "baby wedding bride groom" ha!

I just have them, or one of them, hold the baby and talk to him or her, kiss the baby, etc., to get some natural emotions from them.

This happens all the time here, i've done probably a dozen weddings where the couple have a baby or young child. By the time the post-wedding photos come around babies or kids are tired and cranky and pretty much just want to sleep. I'd suggest doing them as early as possible, then giving them to a grandmother or someone to take them to bed. I shoot them like a portrait, as well as photos of the child by themselves, then go on to regular wedding type photos.

sounds like my wedding.. only I had 4 babies to shoot with :D I think it depends on the age of the lil one..on how creative you get.. I have some neat shots from my wedding, however my baby was 1 1/2 at the time. I also got a neat shot of 2 of my girls ontop of the limo..that was a neat shot!

As one-without-child... this is good advice.. involve the kiddos first. I guess it sounds simple enough, but I don't have much experience with kidlets and completely overlooked the cranky/restless factor!

treat it like a family portrait
capture emotion
invove kiddos first

Maybe I was over thinking this ;)

Got it.. thanks so much.

How old is the baby? For some reason I think it would be hilarious if you take a formal, full body shot of the bride and groom with the baby crawling out from under the bride's dress. It would depend on how laid back the couple are though. Just an idea. :-)

Nothing extraordinary about these shots (aside from a need for PP), but these are some shots from a wedding with children.

This is not the best shot out of this series, but it's the only one I could find on my laptop. All of the others were on my home computer. Anyways, you can give the baby things to hold while he/she sits in the lap (if they are old enough) I have a red heart that works really well. http://farm2.static.flickr.com/1125/1362139353_8a92ca51e4.jpg?v=0

oops, the second one seems 'funnily' small.
