Great lookin' bugs, Scott. I like #s 2 & 6, mainly because the bugs look creepier. All images are great, though.

Awesome shots. How close were you to the subjects? I think that to get such photos with my 100mm macro lens, I'd have to kill the bugs first! (so that they won't fly away) :)

Scott... these are fabulous; I especially like #1 (although he does bring back bad camping memories if he's a deer fly.. a nasty bite to go with his clean, sharp image).

The Fly does it for me. So sharp and clear. Its eyes almost pop right off the page!

Thanks for sharing

Enough DOF, and pin sharp focus. 8)

I've got the 100mm macro but you've got me itching for the 65mm......

Must..... Resist.....

Thanks! With this lens, you have to get very close - maybe 2 inches or so. With the 5X magnification, you have to get even closer!

Thanks, David. You're right - I think it is a deer fly, one of the bugs I hate the most! Those things attack without mercy.

Now I have to put all my macro shots to the trash

How do you obtain this metallic effect on the third ?

Yacine.

Thanks, Yacine. You mean the ant? That's no effect, that's how it is.

sdommin - fantastic shots! now i know which flash system to get ;)

do you use handheld more than a tripod with those flashes on that lense? or do you NOT have the tripod collar for the 100 lense ?
