I've got a mountain of photos from the weekend, but just worked these up real quick.
All shot with the 20D and 70-200mm f/2.8L (it's official: it's the "Holy Grail"), ISO 1600, f/3.2 @1/320...

I like the first two.
On #3 I'm bothered by the second guitar player sticking out.

I hear ya'.
The stage was ridiculously crowded; very few angles without something in the background...

i might dial down the blue in 2 & 3.
and did he change shirts at setbreak??
and since this is your thread, i'll take your normal response and say that he has an impeccable taste in guitars ;) (but why would you stick that pick holder on it?)

The first shot was taken during sound-check...

Nice, sharp shots, Steve. It is a tough to get the right crops when you have a crowded stage. Great playing, not so much room. thelightofsound suggested toning down the blue...maybe a warmer color temp would do the trick without desaturating the blues.

I like # 1 best... Youngbloods were awesome in the 1960's-70's...Some of the very best romantic times in my life...
Personally guys, I'm temporarily regressing from my rock concert gig adventures... need some placid and serene time to myself... Maybe it's my older age catching up with me... cause I just started watching "Frasier" on TV, for the very first time ever, and am catching up on all episodes... Will get back to concerts soon...Later...

I also must say I'm done with shooting concerts unless the "paycheck" is well...worth it. I've just got so much other stuff to shoot that pays the bills.
We are opening a new studio October 1, doing a bunch of print media, so you guys keep the great shots like these coming. I'd much rather make $100K shooting music but for now that will just have to wait!
