I recently bought an Express Card Compact Flash Card adpater from eBay and it arrived today. I am very pleased with it. It was cheap, works perfectly and fits completely flush inside the laptop. When inserted, the CF card only protrudes a small amount. Here's the item I bought....

My CF cards are definitely not high speed but I got read throughput of between 7-8MBps and write speeds of ~3.5MBps.

Here are some photos to show it in use.

Does it remain attached to the computer if you yoink the CF out, or does it come out with it? Had bought a PCMCIA adapter in the hopes that it'd stay put, but it didn't. It also sucked.

The laptop has a firm grip on the adapter and there is an eject button - you can just see it in the photo to the left of the card slot - that you need to push in order to eject the adapter. The card can be removed quite easily from the adapter simply by pulling gently, with a slight wiggle, to free it easily.

EDIT : without the wiggle it is possible for the adpapter to be pulled out with the card. This is hardly the end of the world and the "wiggle" technique does the trick for me.
