Butterfly shot is gorgeous and the grasshopper shot is pretty amazing with all that detail. Great pics :-)

Both excellent shots Rick - I really like the butterfly, it has a very smooth look to the image, I like the composition as well. The grasshopper shot is very good as well, shows how heavily armoured they are, and how goofy they look close up ;)

Nice closeups witht 300mm! Did you use the kenko extension tubes ? Also the IS does work for the secod shot at 1/250!!! BEAUTIFUL lens! I am going to play with them and my 100-400 to catch a close of of humming birds.

Thanks Pete, silvex and Brian. Yes, I use the 36mm extension tube on my 300 when I can approach closer than about 3 feet. --Rick

Lovely shots but both seem to have the look of a heavy de-noise ?

Cracking shots. I love the lighting and detail in both. If I had choose, I'd pick #1, but it's a close run thing.
