Here's my IPTC caption: September 7, 2007, Santa Ynez, California, Alfredo "El Perro" Angulo (black w/silver trunks) 8-0, 6 KOs from Mexicali, Baja California, Mexico, defeats Emmanuel Gonzalez (black w/gray trim trunks) 9-0, 4 KOs from Rio Piedras, Puerto Rico, in the 2nd round of their middleweight bout by a knockout at the Chumash Casino Resort on ShoBox The New Generation.

#1 Thought I'd throw up a fisheye of the ring.

Geez, you only needed about five minutes of Tivo time ... this was TWO rounds! :-)

I always hope I fired enough when the fight ends after 2 rounds. Nice images Dwight.

Yes, it can be a problem ... but I only got five frames from the mat of the Lonnie Smith fight ... nothing worth having ... as I pointed out in the DeMarco/Casal thread, there were only five professional bouts, one ended in one round, two ended in two rounds, one ended after a few rounds by an injury. Only the main event went ten rounds ... but it made up for the rest to some extent.

I'll post some additional images, particularly from the two amateur exhibition bouts ... both by ladies! But it may be a few days as I am swamped.

Did you look at the main event thread: http://photography-on-the.net/forum/showthread.php?t=375975? Some good images there.

Yes, the ring is sooooo much better than the cage ... but it looks like KotC next month so I guess no ring. If you come up you can stay with us again but I expect it is a bit much for the return on investment, sigh.

Yeah those other photos are great too! I think shooting boxing might be easier than MMA. There are too many variables in MMA to know when to pull the trigger. Plus the Cage is too distracting for the AF.That being said, I've never shot boxing hehe..

Not sure about the KOTC show. I might head up there if it's partnered with Showtime. Thanks for the offer!

Linda, Long time, no see! Be sure to check the DeMarco-Casal thread ... it's better ... there is a link two or three posts above in Kagemaru reply. Looks like I'll have boxing or MMA about once every month or two rather than four times a year.

That's good news, because you always do a great job, I am shooting boxing or MMa myself about 3 to 4 times a month! Thank goodness I have no social life! :). I am thinking of either getting a MIII or a 40d/5d combo. Which do you recommend. My poor 20d can barely cry uncle anymore!!!

I don't have a MIII yet but may order one today ... they have focusing issues under some circumstances ... I expect to buy two so my wife says, "Buy one now and play with it ... if you don't like it then put is on the shelf!" If you can find a 1DMIIN new for under $3500 I'd go that route ... mine is superb.

If you weren't so picky you could have all the "social life" you wanted! ;)

I will get another chance tonight as Alfredo is fighting again on ShoBox at the casino. I chatted with him via an interpreter (along with Antonio DeMarco, also via the interpreter) for a while as they and Tony Ojeda from Santa Maria (just up the road ... his manager, Willie Flores, and I are friends and Tony is a great kid!) were sitting around the ring waiting to check in with the boxing commission. They are all very, very nice and are anxious to get out to my website. I'm taking DeMarco a print of my collage (in a thread somewhere in here) where Nick Casal's blood is flying around ... I like Nick who is yet another of these wonderful young boxers but isn't fighting this card. I will also be paying special attention to the heavyweight bout with Bowie Tupou as his wife and I have struck up an acquaintance when I helped her get pictures of Bowie's weigh-in last time. They are from Tonga and are, sigh, also extremely nice. Boxers are simply some of the nicest athletes in existence.
