A buddy of mine called me couple days ago having a problem installing Photoshop CS on any of his Win XP machines..

He says he puts the CD in, autoplay runs, asks him to select a language, and when he clicks on install PS it opens a dos type window, and then just disappears.

Anyone seen anything like this before? He says he's emailed Adobe about it but hasn't heard back yet.

I installed on two PC's (it's legal) and never had any problems whatsoever. I am running XP Pro.

You might try re-booting the PC in safe mode and try again. Apparently something is running that's interfering with the installation.

Does he have Norton antivirus running? It can interfere with some install routines.

No problems with either XP Pro or XP Home. Maybe a defective disk?

I've had him double check all of the suggestions here, it's still not installing.. I may try and install it on a 2k os and see if that works, or just send him back to Adobe for help.

Thanks guys!

how long did you wait for anything to happen? On some program installs Ive seen them take a couple of minutes "behind the scenes" and then finally something pops up :x
