I have not used any other service so I cant compare it to anything. I know I like it and setting up was easy. They have a studio manager you can install. It uploads only thumbnails and tells you when someone ordered a photo. Then you upload the full picture. It costs 100 bucks a year and you get 300mbs of storage. That goes a long way when you only upload thumbnails.
My only gripe is that you have limited options in designing your homepage. They give you about 5 themes to choose from. Its not that big of a deal if you already have a website.
Best thing to do is go to www.printroom.com and read for yourself. Like I said, I'm pleased with them.
Cheers,
Matt

I am with Matt on this one. I have a site on printroom and it is very easy to use. Definately download the Studio Manager, it takes about 20-30 seconds to upload a thumbnail on my dialup. When you get an order you get an email alerting you to missing files, it is a few minutes for a full size image to upload and the order is filled.
One other thing I would suggest to go with it, get on GoDaddy.com and get your domain name. I got one for two years, costs about $16 US. Then I masked it over my printroom site. It is a lot easier to direct people towards Indysportphotos.com than http://printroom.com/pro/indysportphotos.
I have also used dotPhoto.com for some enlargements and were very happy with them. I didn't care for their pro sites tho because they have their name all over the place. I don't want my customers knowing what my costs are, it is none of their business anyway.
Just do your research and check out several sites to see what is going to best fit your personal needs.

My biggest concern with any of these sites is print quality - need to be assured that what is delivered is close to what I see on my screen. Do any of them offer printer profiles?

I've read that printroom.com offers profiles but I guess I'll send in some prints to what the ending results.

I'm curious to know how many prints those of you using these sites manage to sell per month. I am considering using ArtBeacon to sell my landscape photography and want to get an idea first whether people are actually buying off of these sites. Perhaps it is not worth my time. I'm selling in a few stores and galleries locally but not sure what to expect from web sales. I've not sold much from my own site. How much better are these?
Any advice would be much appreciated!

For starters I sell Little league shots off my website & sells is very slow compared to onsite printing, I hope we can get more response on this subject due to the fact the holidays is coming up & I would like to do events & wonder would it be better to print on site which will take some cash for dye sub printers, paper & ink or set up web sales.

So far its has been worthwhile to try it. I got a free sign up with printroom from a local show held here in Vegas the last month. It was easy to learn & I've had a few purchases already from shoots I did back in early July. I know some other pro's who is using pictage & digiproofs for weddings.
I wanted more add ons such as cups, buttons & I got tired of the phone calls from clients wanting to order but could not make up ther mind. This way I edit and post and wait for the sales, no running back and forth to the lab or to someones home.
The big test will be this past weekend I did a family reunion & passed out cards to the sites address to order. I'll see how it turns out in a week or so.
Make sure if you use one of these sites to price your photos to make $$$ Printroom charges 13% + cost of the print. I sell a 5x7 print for $10.00 I'll recieve around $7.50 after the sale.
If someone has a better service please pass the info :D
