Yes, I am serious, a free website. This isn't spam, I just had an interesting opportunity come up, so I thought I'd offer my services to the community from which I've learned so much. I'm currently taking a class on electronic marketing at the University of Maryland and our final project is to design a website for a business. I discussed with my group the possibility of designing a website for a wedding photographer and they were excited about that idea; I'm the only guy on a group with three other girls, of course they liked the idea. Anyways, this open to any wedding photogs here who want a new website, whether from scratch or a full redesign.
The only requirements that I have is that you have a decent sized portfolio from which we can draw images for the website, you have a business plan and pricing set (or at least a reasonable idea from which to work from) and not too high expectations, none of us are experienced web designers but this is an upper level class so the site will be fully functional and professional in quality. We will also be looking carefully at the marketing aspects of the website to effectively reach your target market from a business standpoint, so that is an added benefit. If you're worried about the look of the site being too staid or "businessy," I assure you, that's the reason we chose wedding photography to build the site for, we don't want it to look like that. The other caveat is that the site will probably not be up until the end of November and you will be responsible for paying any hosting and domain registration fees, which you'd have to do if you built it yourself anyway.
So if you're interested...shoot me a pm, I'll have a few questions and want to see some photos, other than that, I'll close this application process on the 18th and let you know who I picked by the 20th. I'm also posting this on other forums, so in case you view this elsewhere, it's the same opp, or if you know someone not on potn who would be interested, they're welcome too.
Hopefully I can help somebody out with a little freebie. ;)

Hm. I don't know if I trust it to be honest. Sounds like you're trying to get someone else's photos, business plan, and marketing strategies. Can you validate your statements?

Hmm...i didn't think about it that way, umm, let me see if I can get a way to prove my trustworthiness. To be honest, I had no intention of stealing anyone's information, ideas or work, I just wanted to throw this out there to help someone out. If anyone has any ideas as to what I would need to provide to give you ease of mind, I'd be willing to sign a contract stipulating something perhaps, i don't know. I could post my syllabus? ;)

Oh I'm not necessarily doubting you, I'm just saying, look at it from our perspective.
We haven't heard of you before, nor have you been around the forums much. You have no contact information/website yourself, so you could just be anyone.
Then, you come on the forums, saying "I'll make you a free website" - this is great and all, but, in reality, nothing in life is free. I understand that if you are doing it for school you will get marks out of it, but still, it looks like a scam from our point of view.
Now you think that given all this, someone will give you a full portfolio, a business plan and marketing schemas?
That's all I'm saying. I'm not doubting, I'm just questioning to keep the forums safe, I suppose.

I don't think you need a business plan or images. Build a site template, and let the photographer fill in the details.
By the way if you want to build me a website, go ahead. If I like it I'll use it. If I don't like it, I'll stick with what I have. I won't give you my business plan or portfolio though. You build the site and I'll fill in the blanks. :)

yeah, i wasn't looking to see the full portfolio or business plan or anything, i just want you to have all of that because part of the requirement for the assignment is that we do this for any already existing business. I also didn't want to have to wait or have to redo things while the photog was still trying to figure out his own business. Maybe I should have made that more clear, but I'm not looking to see your business plan or portfolio, I don't even need to see any full res photos, I just want to see a couple photos, even a link would suffice, just so I know that there is enough material for me to work with.
Also, because of the way the course is structured, I can't totally work blind and create a fill in the blanks template. I would like it to be more collaborative and get input from the photographer to make it the way he/she wants. I already have a few leads, so if this is of interest to you, then pm me, if not, just walk right on by. I only have one slot anyways. Also, sorry about any confusion or problems I may have caused, I certainly did not intend to.

Interesting, I have some pretty strong ideas about web design and I was planning on changing mine for next year but I would be very interested to see what you could come up with for mine, certainly wouldnt have any issue with sharing information with you and were shooting 20 weddings this year so should have plenty of content, how much involvement can the photographer have in your design process ?

Would the website stricltly be for a wedding buisness? What if I also do seniors and kids too?

It doesn't have to be just for wedding photography work, although that is where I am leaning, the website is being built from scratch so anything's possible at this juncture.

I also just found out that this project also includes the creation of an internet marketing plan, so you get that as well.

I live here in DC and I'm very much in need of a wedding site being developed. Please get in touch with me and see what we can work out.

I am interested. I currently have a website that includes weddings and portraits. I would love to have a new site dedicated to weddings... or portraits. I think it would be better to show a specialty. I took a class called The Business of Photography. Due to the assignments, I have done a lot of research on my market and developed a business plan, as well as a marketing plan.
You can see my current site

You can also contact me through the site. Thanks for your consideration.
