The G1 and the D30 use the same file name and numbering system. How are you handling the duplicate file names?

Very interesting question. But I have not experienced this problem. What is strange. I will look today on the number generated by D30 and let know.

I use different folders altogether for each camera (by Downloader).

D30 just continued numeration from G1 after I inserted the old card, wich kept old pictures. That's why there was no collision. And then camera memorized last number.

Hi John,

I rename all my files anyway, so I have my own personal, unbroken sequence. I have details on various issues dealing with file handling (especially Raw files) at a page on my website:

Take a look through it, and hopefully it may help some.

I have a D30 and a S30. The problem is the same as with your G1. I overcome the problem by deleting all but the last file off of my microdrive. In this way the file sequence stays the same between cameras. I don't like the idea of having two different work flows, that is double the organization!
