Took the following the other day, there was some post work done to clean up the hotspot, however it is still a tad visible. Just wanted to post share and get some feedback.

Neat!! The second one is a bit dark, though, some of your stuff gets a bit lost in the shadows.

The first one looks great. Good job on that.

For the second picture, there's not enough light for the gravestones. You can use a flash to illuminate it.

On the second, it is a straight out of the camera + greyscale conversion. hotspot is still there, and just tossed it over think comp on it not fully exposure on the second.

My rate on my second, I lost the outline of the cross in the picture against the hot tree. The center of the cross, is in the focal point of the hotspot of the lens. It results in a terrible loss of contrast in the focal subject of the photo.

What do people see on the first and past what I see, assuming I fix the issues I mentioned in some form of PP.

What rig do you have for IR? I've never experienced 'hot spot' with IR.

Those were shot with the 18-85 kit lens. About the first time it has seen the light in many days. The camera is a Rebel XT, the hotspot, is caused from lens to lens...

Is the body converted, or are you using long exposures with a filter?

I have a D60 full time IR. I use a 24mm/2.8 Olympus Zuiko lens from the OM days on a Kindai converter. I've seen soft issues when using a zoom lens, but not a hotspot. Suggest you try a prime lens, if you have one. Many older prime lenses provide an IR focus index. From the Zuiko lenses, it seems that the primes seem not to have a hotspot problem. I usually shoot at f/5.6. You may find the spot changes depending on the aperture. Experimentation may help.

Keep shooting. You have a good eye.

Long exposures with filter. It is an issue in lenses not designed to work with IR. Some primes have the same issues. Search on here for hotspot, ir... there have been several threads on it in the past.

i guess I was fortunate to have good lenses on hand for the IR use. If you're serious about the IR you can probably find an inexpensive adapter and screwmount lens that is IR capable. Cheers!
