First of all pleased to find this forum, hope I will learn here.

I am have problem using the advanced mode to connect to my G2 using the usb driver form canon via XP os.

The usual method works finde.

Do you recommend anything else, talking about software/drivers, for this purpose?

I am not familiar with the "Advanced Mode", but I also use Windows XP. What works well for me is to use a CF card reader that plugs into the USB port, rather than using the camera. I then use Canon ZoomBrowser to upload the photos to my PC, then use PhotoShop to crop or alter specific photos.

Anyone else familiar with the Advanced Mode Arni is referring to?

I'm not familier with this either. I just hook my G2 up with the usb cable supplied and copy the folder to my desktop. Never heard of this advanced mode. Is it an XP thing or Canon? I do have XP Home.

this is the only way for me doing it, xp was unable to find the camera until I dl the WIA USB driver from the canon web. I go into scanners and camera in control panel and click on the G2 icon wich starts this program that takes you into the camera and offer this advanced mode link underlined in the text field.

what happened the first time you connected, how did xp respond, did ist not ask for drivers once it found the G2 connected.

I can't really remember as I installed everything together when I got my cam.

The important thing to remember is that you must install the software before you plug in the usb cable/G2.

I plug my G2 in, click on "My Computer" and select my G2 from the list. Then I just copy the folder to my desktop, disconnect the cam and the images are then ready for Photoshop (and RAW file converter, if I use RAW - which is most of the time now)

Try completely removing every trace of ALL Canon software (inc usb drivers) and start again. Don't plug in your cam until all this is done.
