The only opening I could shoot through, had that ugly building in the background.

Just wondering what I can do to improve the pics, next time I stop by the park.
Thanks

Hi Rink Rat, I dont know which lens you used, or your exif info(settings), but at a pinch I'd say use a larger aperture setting(Smaller number) to get a shallower DOF to isolate your subject better from the ugly building in the background.
You seem to be able to catch the action with sharp focus and exposure, so no comment in that direction.
Over all, I'd say these look pretty good. :D

Nice sharp images you got there.
I too went to a skatepark and had exactly the same problems as you did - the standard lens that comes with the 300D does not open up enough to get rid of the normally cluttered backgrounds, and my F2.0 100mm was too long to use.
In the end I decided to get up close and personal:

I found the skaters to be more than willing subjects, and am keen to try it all again sometime.

Hi Bruce.
I used this lens: Tamron 80-210/4.5-5.6. (It is a borrowed one, until I decide what I want to get)
The lens just about fully opened up on every shot. I couldn't get close enough. :(
If my feeble memory serves me correctly, I think it was taken @ ISO 200 in "sports" mode.
I keep forgetting to get the EXIF data. I've only been doing "photography" for 2 whole weeks. I swear, on my next batch, I will include the EXIF stuff.
Thanks for the kind words.

I wish I could have gotten closer. I wasn't allowed through the gate without a helmet. I'll bring my goalie mask next time. :)
Since I wasn't able to get too close, I borrowed a friend's Tamron 80-210/4.5-5.6. For an inexpensive lens, it did "O.K.". (From a rookie's perspective)
That's one awesome shot you have there. I want to get that close next time. :)
Yes, they are extremely willing subjects. After just about every shot, they all ran over to see how it came out.
Thanks!
TO ALL: Any lens donations would be appreciated. :)
