When i have them set to master and Slave, i cant get the 430ex in a manual mode. Why is that? I dont have the manuals for either, and cant find them. So i am at a loss. Please help.

Press and hold the mode button for a second or two on the slave. You'll get a flashing M to indicate that it's in manual mode.

Oh sweet!!! thanks. dang the press and hold. Usually i just have to press M and it would do it.
