Anybody ordered from www.rugift.com :?:

They ship from russia, which is real fishy. I've been there, so I know how the postal service works...

I've never bought from Rugift. I have bought several things from Russia and many more items from the Urkaine, and their postal systems works fine.

If it's that Zenitar you want, and if you want it shipped from the U.S., buy it from Kiev Camera in Atlanta. www.kievcamera.com. The proprietor is Mike Fourman. I think he's in Kiev right now or soon will be, but he usually leaves an order taker behind to process orders for things in stock. He also sells the Zenitar with a permanent EOS mount rather than using the adaptor, but you may want the adaptor. He has both, as I recall.

I know he also sells the Peleng, but I don't know if he has the Jupiter 9.

I'm confused with the mount issue at the kiev camera store

I don't know what to do. Why isn't there a store where I can go in and test stuff?

Kiev Camera sells the Zenitar with a permanently installed EOS mount. It is still manual and has no electronica connection, so it's just like using the M42-mount version with an adaptor. You just don't have to mess with the adaptor. Kiev Camera has their technicians (Hartblei, in the Ukraine) remove the screw mount from the lens and install an EOS mount in its place.

Their Peleng 8mm lenses don't have this--they are all screw mount and use an adaptor.

I think you can also get a screw-mount Zenitar with an EOS adaptor, if you want to use the adaptor with other screw-mount lenses.

(M42 = screw-mount)

Don't look at the "Canon EOS" page where they convert all the focal length to equivalents with the small sensor. Bah! I've complained to Mike about that. Millimeters are millimeters.

Rick "suggesting that you look at the price page of the Kiev Camera web page as a more clear list of what they have" Denney

Just for the record, I have bought (adapters) from rugift.com, and everything went fine and quickly. Then again, I live much closer to them. Anyway they had pretty nice communication, confirming everything per email etc.

Doc
they don't use russian postal service. they use an int'l air courier, or for an extra fee you can go fedex or dhl. its a legit outfit. recommended by folks on russian foto forums as well.
