can Energizer rechargeables be used with this? or does it have to be the powerex battereis?

I've got the same charger and I use all types of batteries in it. Energizer, Sanyo, Acculoop and Powerex. I even leave eight sitting in the cradle at all times so I can just pick them up and go. I always use 'Soft Charging' mode which takes a few hours, however its one hour charge isn't as harsh as some of these 15 minute chargers available. it even has a condition feature to discharge the batteries if you get a funky one.

I've always loved MAHA since my radio days (and keeping NiCD batteries happy). I had a different Maha then and it worked flawlessly. You'll be happy with this charger.

It is an excellent charger and yes, you can use any rechargeable batteries in it including the Eneloops.
