This was taken this morning, handheld. I suspect that even in sunlight, a tripod may be a good idea with a 100mm lens, since it's not quite as clear as I'd hoped.

Very nice. I suspect it would look great as a B&W image too.

Depending on the camera used, you should be fine handheld at shutter speeds of 1/100s or greater (or 1/160s if it's a camera with a 1.6x crop)
