New lens question ?

My wife just gave me the ok to buy another toy as long as i dont go over $800!!! I am thinking 17-40 L as you can see from my sig. the only good thing I have is the 85mm 1.8. So here is the question do I get the 17-40 or save up for the 70-200 L. Any other suggestions are welcome too. Help me spend money!!!!

Well... um... yeah I was kinda hoping someone would give me some insight on my choices should I go buy the 17-40 or wait until I can get the 70-200

are u talking about the 2.8 or 4 70-200? because the 4 is cheaper then the 17-40.

i am going through the same dilemna u are right now, except i can only afford the 70-200 f4. it's a really hard choice between the 17-40 and the 70-200, i keep on going back and forth to which one i want.

it really depends on what kind photography u do, u don't wanna buy a lens and let it sits there do nothing, do you? my 17-40mm and 70-200mm get used most frequently, so i'm planning on selling 24-70mm, besides, i've already ordered a 50mm, so moving back and forth will solve the framing, my foot will be the zoom instead of twisting my fingers.
