Hmmm - flash, huh?

Does this work?

Works! Is this a self portrait? Just curious, since you posted that "landscape" awhile back ;)

Good start with the week end thread.. Tho I suppose that your week end is really near end.. Sunday for you isn't?

Yup - Sunday morning here. Yes, also, on the self portrait. I was packing up the studio and figured I would grab a quick shot for here before it was all put away. It's going to be strange to be without a studio for the next 2 weeks...

Thanks for the 'prod' to get myself moving. Hopefully my travel will slow down a bit and I can get back into participating a bit more.

Well, my two are not nearly as creative as the road runner, VERY cool BTW, but here they are non the less....

I tried to capture my flash in its reflection. I didnt want to just "USE" a flash, but some how show it. The first one doesnt show it very well, other then the glare on the caterpillars forehead, but in the 2nd one you can see the reflection of my ring flash clearly on the water drop in his hair.

This is a caterpillar I have not seen up here before. It was on my deck railing and I managed to get out and shoot it between heavy rain showers. Sorry it is not more original of a subject. I stacked my 100mm 2.8 with all three of my Kenko extension tubes.

Nice, David. Great contributions from all. Unfortunately, my camera didn't really make it out of the bag this weekend.

John- Yep, that qualifies. It's nice to put a face with your name.

Robert[B] -- Your toad looks happy. Nice exposure. I consider myself honored since I once saw a toad use its tongue to catch a moth. Only saw it once, though.

[B]Joayne -- Your road runner shots are great. They both make me smile. And his feet look so big in the first one.

Superdriver -- Fuzzy caterpillars are always a challenge. Sometimes they make me itch when I hold them.

I have only one shot this week. A group of World War II reenactors held a three-day event. It culminated Saturday night in a USO dance for which our dance band played. This man was there with his camera. I was fascinated, but didn't get a chance to talk with him.

Well, still Monday here so I'm in time to post this.

We went to an otter sanctuary on Saturday. This otter was running backwards and forwards collecting grass for the 'home'. The staff thought one of the females might be pregnant and they're nesting.

I used some flash just to even out the light as this was slightly shaded and also to boost the exposure a bit to keep the shutter speed up. I think it's worked...

I've just noticed, it's put a nice catchlight in his eye, too :D

Nice pictures and interpretations this week. I especially like joayne's roadrunner. I would love to see one of those in person. I don't think I have even seen one at a zoo.

Why Thank You Mike.. This guy is a regular in my yard..I don't think they would do well in a zoo.. They need lots of space to run in :D

I know, but that never stopped people before. :( Zoos are great for people but not so great for animals. I would prefer to see them in the wild but I don't think I will ever go to Antarctica for penguins, or Africa for Lions, or Japan for Panda bears so I guess the zoo it is. :D

No suggestions? Since mine was used last weekend, I don't feel right about making suggestions for this weekend. Sooooooo . . . suggestions, anyone?

I looked at Tommys list here (http://photography-on-the.net/forum/showthread.php?t=170603) - what about "What is it?"

or "Fixed focal length?"

I am moving house this weekend and am sure I may get some in either of those categories...

Or - "Post your best OOF shot" ;) I am sure I will get some of those, too :D
