Hi guys,

I've the opportunity to buy a 2nd hand 28-70L. I'd like to know if that lens is still a good bargain ?
I've read an article on luminous-landscape where it is compared to the newer 24-70L and it seems that the newer is better. ( http://www.luminous-landscape.com/reviews/lenses/24-70-review.shtml )

I can get it for 900 Eur used. A brand new 24-70L is 1222 Eur.

What do you guys think about this :?: :?:

Thanks,
MikeG

Mike:
I was faced with a similar decision several months ago and ended up buying the 24-70L. I was influenced somewhat by reviews such as the one you cite, but ultimately succumbed to the desire for the wider lens. Although only a 4mm difference, on the 10D that translated into over 6mm --- still not earth-shaking, but useful. Since this was going to be my ‘default’ lens (i.e. the one that would be on the camera the majority of the time), I felt it was prudent to spend the extra money up front rather than wish I had later.

It is by far my favorite lens.

Thanks jjguest, I already saw you post with that pic

belmondo : It seems that I'll make the same decision... The article on luminous-lansdscape is quite convincing.
And the price difference isn't big enough to justify a loss of quality and 6mm (10D basis)

Thanks guys
